How to start a club in SA ?
Firstly approach the head of your region (ie. Each province should have a head of clubs) he/she will then register your club and club name and contact details and information will/would be sent to you asap.
What do you need ?
Well at first a name, then a chairman , and then finally members . From that you can run a group of +- 10 people and then once above that your committee should be set up and after a year and your club is strong , vote and appoint new members to the board or vote for the same guys.
(The rest of the information will be sent to u by me, ie . Rules , points system, functions of committee and rolls.)
Equipment ?
Table + chairs , umbrella/gazebo ,siren, red (stop heat)+ green (start heat) + white/yellow (5min warning for stop/go) + stop watch
Committee ?
A club chairman , Administrator ,relations officer , first aider , club captain (but all of this is only necessary if your club is grown and is in full swing ) otherwise u can do all of the above yourself.
Also we need Sponsors to help us.

Dates ?
Decide on compo dates that won’t clash will leagues or events and trials -( your province should supply you that when you join /apply as club membership to the province).
Venue?
It’s non specific but a great example is a life saving club / place close to the beach so guys can store their stuff there and also support it by buying food and drinks (if available) from the club house. Ours is a pub /Angling club here in Warner beach and a stone’s throw away from the beach.
Where to keep it ?
Meetings should be held once a month and if one feels more are necessary then its up to them.
Insurance?
When joining /signing up for membership a indemnity form will be signed assuring u that you are part of the club AND is not liable for any causes of injury or death ,what’s so ever caused while bodyboarding and do so at own risk.
Rules??
Rules and regulations will be sent to you together with SABA registration .
What so good about a club ?
When starting the club my aim was to get people together from all ages and colours to make friends and ride together and join a brother/sisterhood . Making friends from all over the country , and because you love to body board. That’s the perfect reason to share the fun in the sea together.
A club prepares you for challenges that lie ahead because when starting out in the club you are pretty new at the sport and under a lot of pressure and club members will push one another and tell each other their faults and also boast and talk about the best barrel , biggest ARS or biggest DK turn each of them experienced or landed.
Set them up and train and teaching them about competition conditions , how to score big points and combo’s on a wave.
Watching there wave count and how to access the conditions and where the wave is peaking or bowling and where it is perfect to launch off …
Thanks to all our Sponsors and past sponsors for believing in us.
